Difference between ASIC Key and Corporate Keys for managing your business

What is my Corporate Key?

When you register a new company, ASIC automatically sends a 'Corporate Key' to your Registered Office address.

This 'Key' is an 8-digit code that acts like a PIN code for you to use to access your ASIC Edge Account for your Company details. It takes around a week or two to arrive at your registered office address.

When do I use Corporate Key?

You will need your Corporate Key to log into your ASIC Edge account to view your ASIC Company Extract, make changes and process your Company Renewal and other online services to manage your company.

Request a new Corporate Key

If you can't locate or need to replace your Corporate Key, you will need to do so directly with ASIC here.


What is an ASIC Key?

The ASIC key is used for business names, self-managed superannuation fund (SMSF) auditors and Australian financial services (AFS) licensees.


If you use ASIC Connect, you will create an account and request a new ASIC Key.


Each business name will have its own unique ASIC key.

When do I use an ASIC Key?

You'll need your ASIC key to link your business name to your ASIC Connect account so you can update your business name details (eg address) or cancel your business name or transfer your business name you will need an ASIC Account and Key.

In summary

Your Corporate Key is the one you will need to access your company details and make changes to the company details, and your ASIC Key gives you access to ASIC Connect, where your Business details are stored.

If you have lost or are unable to locate your Key, you will need to request a new one directly from the relevant ASIC site.
