Why is my company registration not progressing or encountering issues, and how can I resolve them?

Updated over 2 weeks ago

If you’re experiencing delays, discrepancies, or other issues with your company registration on Lawpath, this guide will help you understand common causes and provide steps you can take to address them.

Common Issues with Incomplete Registrations

Sometimes, registrations remain incomplete due to missed steps in the process. To ensure your application progresses smoothly:

  • Verify that all required information has been entered and steps completed after you made the payment. You can check your application status and resume any incomplete forms by visiting Manage My Business.

  • Ensure that shareholder information is correctly provided. For example, if you intend to add a trust as a shareholder, it cannot be listed directly. Instead, the trustee (either a person or company) must be entered as the shareholder. Correcting this detail will allow you to amend and resubmit your application.

Resolving Application Status Discrepancies

In some cases, your application might show conflicting statuses, such as 'Rejected' in Updates but 'Submitted' in the Portal. This discrepancy is often due to delays in system updates. To move forward:

  1. Confirm all compliance documents have been signed.

  2. Ensure your Australian Business Number (ABN) registration is active and visible in your account.

  3. Set up your business bank account.

  4. Complete your Director ID setup.

  5. Have key contracts and necessary documents prepared for the next steps.

After addressing these items, consider booking a free onboarding session with your account manager for personalized assistance through final setup stages.

Additional Costs for Document Access

If you’re being asked to pay an additional fee to access your company formation documents, it’s likely because these documents were not included in the basic registration fee. Lawpath's basic compliance plan includes company registration and a company certificate but does not automatically include company formation documents. An upgrade or additional payment may be required to access these items.
