Lawyer Live Chat

Get answers to quick questions from our lawyers and accountants in real time via Live Chat

Updated over a week ago

Based on your feedback, Lawpath has introduced new ways to access legal and accounting advice on the Legal Advice Plan or Accounting Advice Plans!

Additionally, with our lawyer live chat feature, you'll receive responses from lawyers, making it perfect for swiftly addressing those quick questions without the need for a full 30-minute call.

You can access the chat in a few different ways.

From the Lawpath Dashboard:

When you log in, you will see the purple 'Live chat with a lawyer or accountant button, which will open the chat box for you, ready to type in your question

From 'My Consultations':

When reviewing previous advice calls, you will see the 'open live chat' at the top of your page

From 'Set Up a Call':

When booking in a 30-minute consult, you will also be able to opt-out and ask your question via the live chat for a faster response!

What can I ask?

As mentioned, the Live Chat is for simple, quick answers to questions in a shorter timeframe. If the matter is more complex, the lawyers will direct you to make a booking instead.

Some examples of what you can ask:

  • "I wanted to understand the difference between a contractual agreement and a subcontractor agreement. Which template should I use?"

  • "When an employee changes from part-time hours to full-time, does it require a new employment agreement to be made?"

  • "If I set up a separate business name under my company, do I need to keep separate accounts for it"? - Accounting

  • "Can a trustee company have only one director?"

  • "I know you need to add GST on your invoices for Australian sales, but what about if the client is international, do I still have to add GST to the invoice?" - Accounting

  • "In the NDA template schedule 1f, how should I answer 'Description of the subject matter of confidentiality obligation' in terms of database, finances, etc or do we need to?"

What can't I ask?

You are welcome to ask any question in the chat, but not all of them can be answered in this capacity, even if it seems like it should be a simple answer. If this is the case, you will be directed to book a consultation as normal.
