Exploring Dual Roles: Company Secretary and Director

Updated over a year ago

Yes, it's entirely possible for a company director to also take on the role of a company secretary.

There are no definite restrictions in place regarding this combination of roles. If a director wishes to assume the responsibilities of a company secretary, they are allowed to appoint themselves for this dual role. As long as the appointment is properly registered and communicated to ASIC, there won't be any penalties. Considering the shared responsibilities between company secretaries and directors, it's completely feasible for the same person to hold both positions. The key is to make sure that the person fulfils the responsibilities of each role properly.
